As you drive north from Auckland, you enter the warmer, sub-tropical region of Northland, and one of the most beautiful areas of New Zealand.   Just 2 hours drive from Auckland, Whangarei is Northland’s largest town, and the centre of an area known for its superb beaches, beautiful countryside and quality of life.

 

There is a wealth of interesting things to see and experience around Whangarei.

Visit Whangarei Town with its thriving community of restaurants and cafes, arts and craft galleries, shopping and a wide variety of gardens, museums, galleries, walks, tours and activities, all within easy travelling distance.   Just a few minutes walk from the City centre is the Quayside Town Basin, with its marina, cafes and speciality shops, and home to the Clock Museum and helpful tourist information centre.
